Current Hair Care loves: Shampoo!

While the phrase “Product Junkie” is not officially defined anywhere, I believe that you could take a picture of my shower and use that as a formal definition. Every surface of that shower is covered in hair care products. I have always found comfort in being surrounded by an excessive amount of options when it comes to shower time. Now that I have moved into the sorority house space is incredibly limited! My products have been reduced to a shower caddy and drawer in my desk. While this makes me want to run around and stop my feet, It really has forced me to only keep around the hair care products that I am absolutely in love with. I decided to share some of my hair current favorites with all of you. I am going to break these into several categories to ensure that no one is reading a novel over here!

Shampoos

The idea of only have one of each gives me slight anxiety…

·         Clairol Shimmer lights shampoo: I purchased mine for around $12.00 at Sallys beauty. This is one of my tested and true products. I have repurchased this product numerous times. It is a dark purple shampoo that keeps blondes looking fresh. The purple helps get rid of the brassy tones that can sometimes turn blonde hair a little too yellow. I recommend this shampoo for all blondes including the natural ones, and “salon natural” ones. I use this product about once a week. Immediately after I use this shampoo I always have someone asking if I just got my hair done!

·         Wen by Chaz Dean Cleansing conditioner is around $30.00 through QVC. I have watched the Wen hair care system programs on QVC for as long as I can remember. I always thought it was a hoax and could not possibly clean my hair while conditioning. WOW I was wrong. With a consistency like a creamy conditioner, this product is applied to wet hair and left on for about 5-10 minutes. It leaves my hair clean without any leftover residue. The cleansing conditioner also manages to moisturize my ends without making my thin locks fall flat. This product is fabulous for girls with dry hair that do not need to wash their hair every single day. My only complaint is it takes about 15-20 pumps which is a decent amount of product.

·         Paul Mitchell shampoo 3: I was recommended this for the first time by my hair dresser. I picked it up for $15.00 at Ulta. First let me start by saying that this shampoo smells AMAZING. It has a lemon scent that lingers while I’m lathering up. This is a clarifying shampoo that removes all of the gunk that can be left on the scalp by hair care products. Caution! Clarifying shampoos can be a little drying, which makes the recommended use once every two weeks. I have noticed such a difference in my hair ever since making this part of my routine. My locks are shinier and have more natural volume at the scalp.

·         EverStrong reconstruct shampoo is a sulfate-free shampoo that I purchased at the drugstore for less than ten dollars. I picked this up on a whim and am so thankful I did. L’oreal created this line of products in order to bring gentle hair care products to the shelves at an affordable price. The ingredient list is incredibly promising even to the pickiest of beauty gurus. I find myself using this shampoo whenever I don't need a specialty shampoo. I have noticed a lot less breakage and fallout. Since it is sulfate free, it is completely safe to use on color treated hair. This shampoo will definitely be staying on my holy grail list for quite some time.

If you haven’t noticed, I love switching up my routine. While these are my favorites for now, no one knows when I will have found new ones ;)

Until Next Time,
Xo

Winter cleaning the blog?!

Well it has been quite some time since I’ve updated this little ole page of mine.

I decided that I needed to make a few adjustments. I really have no good reason for changing my blog title other than it seemed like a fun and fresh thing to do. I still plan on covering beauty but with a few other sorts added in as well.

Lets just say it’s going to be covering this blonde all about town.

Until next time xo

Rave Review!

Hello Ladies!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their week. With three classes I am having quite a busy summer. Of course I’m never too busy for my makeup obsession. Today’s post is on some AMAZING eye shadows I have recently discovered. For a while know I have known about the website www.coastalscents.com. They are famous for their palettes and brushes. Recently the brand has expanded their collection to include all kinds of lip products, brow products, and face products. Everything is relatively inexpensive which is an added bonus. While I have not tried all of their products, I must say that the ones I have tried are great quality.

About two weeks ago I was browsing the website and stumbled upon a section called “Hot Pots”. Hot Pots are single eye shadows that come in a variety of colors and finishes.  At first glance they reminded me a lot in look of the MAC single eye shadows but these are all de-potted. At $1.99 a pop I decided I would give them a try. I selected 12 eye shadows mostly all neutrals with some shimmer. Coastal Scents also sells empty palettes to put the Hot Pots in, and I added the empty 12 palette to my shopping cart. My total with shipping was around $35.00. Quite a steal if you ask me!

When they came in the mail the Hot Pots were individually packaged. I opened them all and placed them into the palette. At first glance I was amazed at how gorgeous the colors looked. They felt as good as they looked as well! I found them incredibly creamy for a powder eye shadow. The palette is definitely a lot bulkier than other empty palettes but that can be dealt with. Once I started playing around with the Hot Pots I fell head over heels in love with them! The pigment and staying power are incredible. With primer underneath, they will last all day. There is only minimal fall out when applying the shadow which is nice because no one wants to look like a disco ball. I have included pictures below of color swatches and the palette. I also have included the names of the colors I purchased.

So to sum my thoughts up about these Hot Pots, the pros are: PIGMENTATION, staying power, texture, and color selection. My only negative comments are that the naming system is kind of weird. Online many of them have names along with their numbers which is always nice when it comes to a product. When I was looking at the bottom of the Hot Pots most of them only had numbers. I would still say I prefer MAC eye shadows, but with this price I will definitely be purchasing more in the future. These are definitely a must have for beginners in the Makeup Realm or girlies looking to expand their collections.

Oh the joy of good quality products! :)  Thanks for reading ladies. Let me know in a comment if you have ever purchased a Coastal Scents Product. Until next time.. Xo
